MUD\WTR™ the Healthy Coffee Substitute

mud wtr review

The MUD/WTR simply called as MUD has lately been grabbing the attention of many caffeine lovers, including me. With all the hype of MUD WTR, I decided to give it a try and bring forth my experience in an absolute, unbiased way.

I have been using the mud water for over a month now and after having tried both the morning kit and the evening kit, I think now I am able to ink down my words with all the good’s and bad’s related to it. In short, if I say, the MUT/WTR has been a great alternative to my said morning coffee, and I have experienced a clear difference not only in taste but in overall effectiveness. I highly recommend some mud water home recipes that are easy and quick to prepare.

What is Mud Water

Alright, now that I’ve babbled on about myself, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. You’re probably thinking, “Wait, what on earth is this mud water stuff?” Well, according to the makers, “MUD/WTR is a coffee alternative made from organic ingredients cherished by ancient cultures and today’s health junkies alike. With only 1/7th the caffeine of coffee, it’s supposed to give you natural energy, focus, and none of that shaky-jittery-crashy nonsense.”

Basically, it’s like coffee’s hippie cousin who went on a wellness retreat. It’s healthier, allegedly tastes better (subject to opinion), and has fewer caffeine-induced side effects. Technically, yes, it does have caffeine, but in a “chill vibes only” kind of way.

Looks-wise? Imagine cocoa powder that’s been to a yoga class. It’s designed to fuel you up in the most zen way possible, without any of that nervous “Did I have one cup or five?” energy.

Composition of Mud Water

Now that you are aware of what mud water is, let’s talk about its composition. It’s not just going to be some simple ingredients labelling; I am going to share the detailed composition and the health benefits and drawbacks of each of the ingredients with you.

Masala Chai

The first ingredient is the Masala chai. When you take the first sip of hot MUD Water, it will take you back to India’s colorful and vast fields. You can truly feel the bliss of the natural spices and exotic taste with this drink because of the presence of a masala chai. The masala chai itself is a mix of various organic products; ginger, nutmeg, black paper, cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves.

Benefits:
  • Chai (tea) is the best alternative for caffeinated drinks because it induces alertness without jitters.
  • The added ginger, black paper, and cloves are best for better digestion.
  • Chai tastes better when combined with other ingredients.
Drawback:
  • The only drawback of consuming too much Chai (tea) is poor digestion, but that is perfectly balanced here by putting other ingredients such as ginger and cloves in the masala chai.

Lions Mane

The next main ingredient is Lions mane. According to the evidence, it has been a part of Japanese and Chinese medicines for centuries. Many research studies have been conducted on this single ingredient, and it has been found that Lion’s mane can protect from dementia and help repair the nervous system. Moreover, it is also best to combat mind symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Benefits:
  • A daily dose of lion’s mane can keep your memory intact
  • Lion’s mane sharpens the focus.
  • Help against depression and anxiety.
Drawback:
  • There has not been any adverse effect of the lion’s mane on human health till yet.

Chaga

Chaga has been a well-known thing in the Eastern culture for centuries, and the natives used to drink it for its numerous health benefits and soothing properties. It is a kind of mushrooms which grows on birch trees.

Benefits:
  • It is a nutrient-dense superfood that contains a great variety of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients.
  • Works as an excellent anti-oxidant.
  • Full of richness soothes the nervous system.
Drawback:
  • It can lower the blood sugar level if taken in a large quantity.

Reishi

Reishi is another mushroom that has been added to Mud water. It has been a part of Chinese culture for over 2000 years, and it is known as the ‘’king of mushrooms’’ for its health benefits. Reishi contains many polysaccharides and beta-glucans.

Benefits:
  • It boosts immunity.
  • It also provides a calming effect which balance outs the caffeine jitters.
  • Reishi can enhance immune function.
Drawback:
  • It can upset stomach.
  • It tends to lower the blood pressure if taken for a longer time period.

Cordyceps

Belonging to the fungi family, the cordyceps are added to MUD/WATR because of their physical health benefits. It is used by many athletes and sportsmen to boost stamina and energy. Primarily, it was used by high altitude Tibetan herdsmen, but now it is commonly consumed by many.

Benefits:
  • It improves energy levels.
  • It works as a great antioxidant agent.
  • Cordyceps possess potential anti-tumor properties.
Drawback:
  • It can have mild physical effects, such as abdominal discomfort.

Turmeric

If you have been following some DIYs, you must have come across this magic ingredient. It is one of the most beneficial compounds on the planet earth not only because of its countless health benefits but also its taste and color.

Benefits:
  • It works wonders for the body, which includes reducing any inflammation caused by stress or trauma.
  • It maintains the collagen synthesis rate and prevents heart diseases.
  • Moreover, it is also best to keep oneself safe from Alzheimer’s and cancer.
Drawback:
  • There is no such drawback of turmeric, but if taken in large amounts, it can disturb the stomach.

Cacao

What comes to your mind when you hear this word? For me, it’s all about the exotic chocolate feel and flavor. In some cultures, people used to worship Cacao and regarded it as ‘’food of gods,’’ and we can completely comprehend the reason for doing so. It is one of the most abundant ingredients found in MUDWTR.

Benefits:
  • It is essential for creating neurotransmitter serotonin.
  • It also energizes the body without greatly affecting the nervous system.
  • Plus, it is responsible for nitrogen balance inside the body.
Drawback:
  • There are no such serious harms related to it apart from getting addicted to the heavenly flavor.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is famous for its top-notch flavor. But nothing in the MUD WATR is added for flavor only. It has been used as a medicine for many centuries, and even today, many people regard it as a potential medicine rather than a spice.

Benefits:
  • It is rich in anti-oxidants.
  • Enhances the taste of the drink.
  • Gives a beautiful color to mud coffee.
Drawback:
  • It is highly advisable to regularly intake only a small amount of cinnamon; otherwise, it can be toxic to the body.
  • Cinnamon is too spicy if taken solely.

Himalayan Salt

The last ingredient is a salt. Yes, you heard it right, a salt in your morning drink. It might sound a bit weird, but it has many health benefits. Plus, it helps to balance out the tastes in the most subtle manner. It is not just any ordinary salt; instead, it is the rock salt, which is purely organic with no added chemicals.

Benefits:
  • It balances out the pH of the drink.
  • It maintains the hydration of the body.
  • Enhances the taste of the mud water.
Drawback:
  • There is no harm unless you consume it in bulk amount.

How does the MUD WATER taste?

Mud water tastes kind of like chai, if chai went backpacking and came back with a spice collection. When I took my first sip, I thought, “Hold up—this might just be my new favorite drink.” It’s like someone took a cup of coffee, hugged it, added some masala chai, a hint of chocolate, and sprinkled in spices with the finesse of a culinary artist.

Honestly, it tastes way better than coffee (at least for me!). Imagine if chai, chocolate, and spice had a deliciously zen meeting in a mug—it’s just layers upon layers of flavor, dancing together in perfect harmony.

How much Mud water dosage should you take daily?

The manufacturers recommend taking one tablespoon of mud water on a daily basis. Mix the mud coffee in hot water, and you’re good to go. You can also add some honey or creamer if you like, I preferred to take it with a bit of honey as there is no sugar added.
A single tablespoon of MUD contains about 17mg of caffeine, which is way less than a regular cup of coffee.
Moreover, it has around 20 calories in a single serving. It is the best choice for those who don’t appreciate sugar and fats much because no sugar or artificial flavors are added in the MUD coffee.

Benefits of Mud Wtr

Alright, now that you’re practically a mud coffee expert, let’s dig into the perks of this earthy elixir. I know, for a lot of people, their morning coffee is practically a sacred ritual—never mind the side effects; they’re not going to mess with their morning buzz. But me? I’m not in that camp.

I’ve been sipping this muddy goodness for over a month now, and I’ve got some benefits to spill (besides the fact that it’s fun to say “mud water” with a straight face). So, let me share all the ways this mystical mud is bringing its A-game to my mornings.

Alertness

The first thing that hit me right away? This stuff gives you a solid boost of alertness—*without* the jitters. You know how coffee can sometimes have you buzzing like a phone on vibrate? Or leave you with that “did I just drink rocket fuel?” vibe? None of that with mud water. It’s like, “Hey, I’m awake, I’m focused,” but without the mini panic attack.

Healthy immune system

Mud water isn’t just a quick pick-me-up; it’s more like a long-term wellness buddy. Thanks to its magical mushroom squad—Reishi and Chaga, to name a few—it’s got immunity-boosting superpowers. So, while regular coffee is out here giving you a temporary high, mud water is busy strengthening your defenses, fine-tuning your mind, and keeping your body on point. Drink it daily, and it’s like your immune system gets a VIP upgrade!

Energy booster

Many people drink coffee in order to improve their energy levels (especially in the morning). But as I just mentioned earlier, coffee causes jitters and can cause serious health issues. And if you’re looking for a healthy alternative, the mudwater is for you. But there are other mushroom coffees avilable in the market with their own perks, like Four Sigmatic, here you can read comparison between MUD WTR and Four Sigmatic.
The presence of Cordyceps and Cacao makes this an energy booster. You can get your daily energy dose with this one without comprising your physical and mental health.

Improves mental capacity

If you start your day feeling like a goldfish in a fog, mud water might just be your new best friend. Thanks to Lion’s Mane mushroom—aka the *focus whisperer*—this drink gives your memory a gentle nudge and your focus a serious boost. Just imagine: one cup of this magical mud, and suddenly, you’re on top of your game. Within days, you’ll feel like your brain upgraded its software—sharp, steady, and ready for action.

Exotic Taste

Last but not least is the taste or I better call is as exotic taste. Like coffee, the mud water also has a bold flavor. But the perfect blend of extra-ordinary ingredients makes it much more than a simple cup of coffee. You get to experience different tastes with a single cup serving.
If you’re someone who loves Chai, this is going to be an addiction for you (saying that based on my firsthand experience). So what are you waiting for? Take the plunge and start your journey with this exceptionally tasty morning drink.

Health Concerns of Mud/Wtr

There have not been any severe health issues stated yet about mud water. Most people found it best for their physical and mental health. But just like everything, this too must not be consumed too much. Because if you take it more than the recommended serving, the individual ingredients can cause health issues.

Some people may experience a drop in blood pressure and blood sugar level if they drink it too much. Just as they say, excess of everything is bad. So it’s better to go with the recommended amount to get the maximum perk out of it.

Myth or Does it really work

After all the hype about its ingredients and benefits, some people might still be confused about whether the mud water really works or not? Based on 2300+ reviews on the official website, most people have given it five start ratings.

Let’s see what the users have said about it

This drink has been life changing in terms of concentration and productivity. I recommend anyone to try it if they like chai. I drink it like a chai tea latte {oat milk + mud + sugar + a touch of spices}… tastes so good and is so much more beneficial compared to teas or coffee. Cool news too is that it gave me vivid dreams! Disclaimer: Drinking mud mixed in just water is definitely an acquired taste… I wasn’t a fan but the extra minute to spruce it up wasn’t bad at all especially when it changes your entire day and mood.

Here is another one

After switching over to Mud, I was pleasantly surprised. I was an all-day coffee drinker, and this is a great replacement product. Keep on keeping’ on, Mud!

You can see yourself what people have to say about this Mud WTR coffee. One of the most cited benefits of this mud coffee was that it causes no jitters.

If you ask me, yes, it has been working perfectly for me. I have completely switched from coffee to this one, and it has not only improved my focus, but I also experience better mental health.

Coffee vs. Mud Water

As the manufacturers claim, Mud water is a coffee alternative. But how it does that? What are the factors that make it outstand coffee in various ways? Let me explain it to you.

  • The caffeine amount in the Mud water is way less than a regular cup of coffee. A single serving of mud water contains about 1/7th of the caffeine in contrast to coffee.
  • Mud watr causes no jitters. Most people experience jitters with coffee, but with mud wtr there are no such issues. You can consume it regularly without experiencing any jumpiness.
  • The taste varies a lot. Mud water tastes more like a Chai than a coffee. But the flavor is so rich that it surpasses coffee (for me, at least).
  • Coffee is made from just coffee beans, while the mud water includes a long list of ingredients. From masala Chai to different kinds of mushrooms and spices, mud water is a blend of various exotic tastes.
  • Unlike coffee, mud water induces long term benefits. You will experience an overall change in your physical and mental health if taken daily.
  • Mud water isn’t here to imitate the effects of coffee. Coffee boosts your energy, but it comes to an end with a crash while there is no such thing with mud water.

In short, Mud WTR is a healthier, safer, and way better choice than regular coffee.

Fuk Coffee – Is mud water against coffee?

Not at all. When you go through the official website of Mud water, you will come to know about their belief and notion. Mud water just don’t appreciate the amount of caffeine the coffee offers and that is why it emerged as the best coffee alternative.

Various research studies have been conducted to find out what exactly coffee do to your system. It turns out that high amount of caffeine added in coffee blocks the adenosine receptors responsible for providing a peaceful sleep.

In addition, the adrenaline rush and high level of dopamine responsible for instant energy causes the most terrible shakes and dependency which comes to end with a crash.

In contrast, the mud water has only about 1/7th of caffeine as compared to the coffee. With organic ingredients, mud water is the natural energy booster which offers numerous health benefits and that too on long term basis.

However, at the end of the day it’s completely your choice to go with whatever you like. For me, the Mud WTR is the ultimate healthy choice which has become a morning ritual for me.

The trial kit of mud water with 30 servings costs around $60 which includes a free frother.

Is mud water better than coffee?

As a coffee lover, you may be skeptical about whether the mud wtr is better than coffee or not. Well, that totally depends on your personal preferences. If you’re someone who doesn’t appreciate high content of caffeine in your daily life, then surely mud wtr is the ultimate right choice for you.

On contrast, if you’re addicted to regular shots of caffeine and you find it difficult to focus for longer hours without it, then yes coffee is the right option for you.

Another factor is taste, if you’re fond of unaltered black coffee taste, mud wtr might not do the work for you. However, being someone who prefers coffee with creamer and sugar, you’re going to love mud wtr taste.

Where to buy?

Making Mud Water

If you’re trying it for the first time, take a table spoon of mud powder and put it into your favorite mug. Then pour in some boiling hot water and give it a good blend. By good blend I mean a real good blend (a wild one maybe). For extra taste, you can add anything you like.
I personally prefer to add some honey as a sweetener as there is no added sugar in it.

You can add coconut, creamer or anything you like.

For blending, it comes with a hand blender, you can use that or else use your regular hand blender or frother. You can also use a simple spoon to mix it well (but with a spoon, you have to put in some extra effort).

Thanks for the great review, i was looking for the pros and cons of the ingredients.

Although it’s a bit pricey, it’s definitely a good alternative to coffee and even tea. As I am from an Indian background so it fulfills my tea cravings as well.
